Microsoft has announced the immediate availability of the Windows Live Messenger Web Toolkit (MWT) Version 3.7 . The Windows Live Messenger Web Toolkit enables developers to integrate and enrich their Web-based applications with Windows Live Messenger.

V3.7 improves the Messenger Web Toolkit by adding the following.

• Offline IM – Users can now IM offline contacts, just like they can in the Messenger desktop client.
• ASP.NET Ajax Library Integration – Starting in V3.7, the Messenger Web Toolkit UI Controls are built as ASP.NET Ajax Library (http://asp.net/ajaxlibrary/) controls.  This means you can add MWT Controls to your pages using standard declarative and programmatic methods of ASP.NET Ajax Library.
• Improved Application Contacts – We’ve improved application contact functionality to work better based on feedback we received in V3.5.  Application contacts defined on a page no longer are carried across to new pages.  This helps applications avoid hitting the 250 contact limit for application contacts.

Though its not supported for the latest Chrome 4 or Beta5 but it has added support for Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 3.

The new version of Windows Live for Windows Phone is released by Microsoft at 22th jan 2010. This new version, 11.1, can be found on the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Before installing, please be sure to manually uninstall any existing version of Windows Live prior to version 11.1 and after install u must reboot the Windows phone.

Windows Live messenger has inbuilt facility to set your virus scanner as a default file sharing virus scanner. Now receive files through live messenger safely.

To set Microsoft Security Essential as your default virus scanner follow the simple steps described below. First of all you need to Install Microsoft Security Essential or any other virus scanner.

• Go to Tools > Option as described in image below

• Select File Transfer from left sidemenu.
• Check “Scan files for virus using :“
• Click on browse and navigate “msseces.exe” (If you are going to use MSE as a default scanner) from “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Essentials” directory. (If you are using any other virus scanner than locate another scanner application.)

• Apply it and click on OK.

Note :

• Scanned files that are infected should be deleted
• Infected and potentially infected files that are found by the safety scanner can be accessed in a Hidden folder.
• If you’re using Windows XP, the hidden folder can be found at the following location: “C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\QuarantinedFiles”.
• If you’re using Windows Vista, the hidden folder can be found at the following location: “C:\users\your username\AppData\local\Microsoft\QuarantinedFiles”

Microsoft has released final version of Windows Live Essentials. Which can be installed through Web-Installer or Offline installer.

Windows live package contains Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, Writer, Toolbar, and Family Safety, and Windows Live Movie maker which is currently in Beta. These all Essentials can be downloaded separately and can be installed by web installer.

So, there are Standalone Offline installers are also available which can be downloaded through following links.

Note : you have to install all the requirements software (see at end of post) before installing the Essentials.

All downloads come as *.cab files, so you will need to extract the *.MSI file using Winrar or 7Zip.
