Got my vuvuzela up and yes, its celebration time. Many of the users around the globe had played the word cup contest, organized by Infolinks, over their Facebook Fan page. And BingoO, I entered in final contest by predicting the final goal fixture between the Netherlands vs. Spain final Fifa worldcup 2010, and won the cool Ninetndo Wii and the official FIFA World Cup 2010 game.

As many of the internet user knows that Windows 7 Service pack 1 has been leaked to Torrent sites. The leaked Windows 7 SP1 release has the build number 7601.16562.100603-1800 and it was originally distributed to select beta testers, and will expire in-between April – July 2011.

Users, who don’t like to download the leaked Service Pack 1 beta (7601.16562.100603-1800) from torrents and other file sharing sites, can now officially download Service Pack 1 directly from “Softpedia”.

Bill Gates supports the things that Steve Ballmer is doing

Microsoft Corp.co-founder Bill Gates said he supports chief executive officer Steve Ballmer, as rival Apple Inc. overtook Microsoft last month to become the technology company with the highest market capitalization.

“I happen to like the things that Steve’s doing,” Gates said when asked if he had confidence in Ballmer, according to the transcript of an interview for broadcast later on Sunday on ABC’s This Week programme. “It’s not my full-time work, but as a board member, you know, I see a lot of great things going on.”

Apple became the most valuable technology firm in the world on 26 May. Cupertino, California-based Apple’s market capitalization was $230.70 billion (Rs10.8 trillion) as of 11 June; Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft’s was $224.90 billion.

Asked why Apple overtook Microsoft, Gates said: “Oh, Microsoft is doing a lot of great stuff,” and that the opportunities in the software industry are pretty phenomenal.

“The way that people think about TV, the way they think about reading, about learning, software is going to revolutionize that,” said Gates.

Asked about the economy Gates said the President can’t just pull the levers and make the economy take off. He said reducing the US budget deficit will be difficult. “It’s a tricky thing, because almost everybody agrees we need to keep spending up, you know, not take all country deficits to zero right away. But over time, you have to move in that direction,” he said.

Gates also repeated his call for the US government to increase spending on clean-energy research and development. “Without such research, the problem we’ll run into is that we’ll have more crises like the oil spill and we’ll have the supply disruption. We’ll start to see more and more effects of the climate problem. The costs will go up because you’re looking for oil in harder and harder places,“ Gates said

Public Beta version of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 availability announced

Now no more wait, Microsoft has announced the imminent availability of public beta version of Service pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 at TechEd 2010 annual conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA (June 7-10 2010).

” Today, at TechEd, we are pleased to announce that by the end of July we will be releasing the public beta of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. ” - Microsoft Corporation

According to them expectation seems that we will be having SP1 Public Beta in the next one or two weeks.

Microsoft Tag comes out of “Beta” tag

It has been 18 months since Microsoft has launched mobile barcode technology, “Microsoft Tag”. In that time, more than one billion Tags have been printed by people and businesses all over the world, more than 20 million magazines with Tags were in the hands of U.S. consumers. Today, Microsoft has made an announcement of its final availability.

This specifically means you will be able to generate and use Tags that link to our standard scenarios and use the reader application at no cost. By simply going to Tag.Microsoft.com, you can create Tags and deliver rich interactive experiences on mobile phones.

Microsoft also has a plan to offer the ability to create richer, more powerful, and more effective solutions and experiences through a variety of value-added services, such as advanced reporting and analytics and real-time location services.

Coming out of beta Microsoft has updated the website, the Tag Campaign Manager and improved our Tag Reader clients and also introduced some cool new features that will enhance customers’ ability to create, execute and track creative Tag campaigns:

A device ID feature will allow marketers to deliver a more personalized consumer experience across multiple Tags. For example, consumers can now receive customized content, such as a coupon or other offer from a retail outlet, based on Tags they’ve previously scanned.

Google providing a secure search through Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

Are you scared of being caught by your ISP or any other third party user while having a personal search about your required private data . Google has made a good incremented by providing Secure Socket Layer over their search engine’s protocol.

Now search your required information by just changing the protocol from http:// to https://. Now you have to type https://google.com on your addressbar rather then the traditional http://google.com, and your required query and your search data will by encrypted through Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

Whats SSL ?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a protocol that helps provide secure Internet communications for services like web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging, and other data transfers. When you search over SSL, your search queries and search traffic are encrypted so they can’t be read by any intermediary party such as employers and internet service providers (ISPs).

Why SSL ?

SSL encrypts the communication channel between Google and a searcher’s computer. When search traffic is encrypted, it can’t be read by third parties trying to access the connection between a searcher’s computer and Google’s servers.

Bill gates and Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Amethi On Tuesday

The worlds’ one of the richest man Bill Gates and India’s powerful young politician Rahul Gandhi visited the small village Amethi which is situated in Uttar Pradesh (india) on This tuesday (11th may 2010).

The visit was maintained as a top secret till late Monday evening, to keep the media and others away. Even the main state leaders of Congress were unaware of this visit.

Rahul and Bill Gates reached Gortholia village at night and also held a community meeting. Here they talked about their problems. The villagers have never heard of Bill Gates but they call him “bahut dhani aadmi” (a very rich man).

In that visit Rahul and Bill Gates talked about some serious issues regarding Indian economical and economical condition.

Gates, who is the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, made these remarks in his annual letter while recalling his experiences during his India visit last year. According to Gates, “Rahul (Gandhi) was very frank in saying that a lot of the money is not getting to the intended recipients and that it won’t be easy to fix right away.He described Rahul Gandhi as “a very frank person”.

According to my previous post, SP1 includes all previously released updates for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 which contains the update patches for certain components of operating System.

Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 represents Microsoft’s continuing commitment to quality. While many of the updates contained in SP1 are available as individual downloads, the integration of these updates in SP1 enhances the ease of deployment for IT administrators. This functionality coupled with advanced new virtualization features such as Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX, demonstrates how SP1 continues to provide ongoing improvements that organizations have grown to expect from Microsoft.

Changes Specific to Windows 7 SP1

Additional support for communication with third-party federation services.

Additional support has been added to allow Windows 7 clients to effectively communicate with third-party identity federation services (those supporting the WS-Federation passive profile protocol). This change enhances platform interoperability, and improves the ability to communicate identity and authentication information between organizations.

Improved HDMI audio device performance.

A small percentage of users have reported issues in which the connection between a computer running Windows 7 an HDMI audio device is lost after a system reboot. Updates have been incorporated into SP1 to ensure that connections between Windows 7 computers and HDMI audio devices are consistently maintained.

Corrected behavior when printing mixed-orientation XPS documents.

Prior to the release of SP1, some customers have reported difficulty when printing mixed-orientation XPS documents (documents containing pages in both portrait and landscape orientation) using the XPS Viewer, resulting in all pages being printed entirely in either portrait or landscape mode. This issue has been addressed in SP1, allowing users to correctly print mixed-orientation documents using the XPS Viewer.

In Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, improvements have been made to enhance scalability and high availability when using DirectAccess, through the addition of support for 6to4 and ISATAP addresses when using DirectAccess in conjunction with Network Load Balancing (NLB).

Support for Managed Service Accounts (MSAs) in secure branch office scenarios

SP1 enables enhanced support for managed service accounts (MSAs) to be used on domain-member services located in perimeter networks (also known as DMZs or extranets).

Support for increased volume of authentication traffic on domain controllers connected to high-latency networks.

As a greater volume of IT infrastructure migrates to cloud-based services, there is a need for higher thresholds of authentication traffic to domain controllers located on high-latency networks (such as the public Internet). SP1 allows for more granular control of the maximum number of possible concurrent connections to a domain controller, enabling a greater degree of performance tuning for service providers.

SP1 introduces functionality that enables user-mode use of the invariant Time Stamp Counter (TSC). When utilized by application workloads such as SQL Server, the invariant-TSC provides a high resolution multimedia timer (necessary for functionality such as OLTP, data warehouse processing, and so on) at far greater power efficiency than previously available alternatives.

Change to behavior of “Restore previous folders at logon” functionality

SP1 changes the behavior of the “Restore previous folders at logon” function available in the Folder Options Explorer dialog. Prior to SP1, previous folders would be restored in a cascaded position based on the location of the most recently active folder. SP1 changes that behavior so that all folders are restored to their previous position.

Enhanced support for additional identities in RRAS and IPsec

Support for additional identification types has been added to the Identification field in the IKEv2 authentication protocol. This allows for a variety of additional forms of identification (such as E-mail ID or Certificate Subject) to be used when performing authentication using the IKEv2 protocol.
